Activity of Power System Planning & Appraisal-I Division

1. All- India Transmission Planning Studies to evolve the transmission system on National Basis.
2. Preparation of National Electricity Plan Transmission in accordance with the Electricity Policy.
3. Medium Term and Long Term Planning of transmission system of Northern Region (NR), Western Region (WR) and Southern Region (SR).
4. Appraisal of DPR of intra-state transmission Schemes of NR, WR and SR
5. Appraisal of Associated Transmission System (ATS) associated with power evacuation from Hydro Electric power projects and Pumped Storage projects in NR, WR and SR.
6. Planning of transmission system for Integration of Renewable Energy Sources in the grid and its Coordination
7. Prior Approval under Section-68 of the Electricity Act 2003, for installation of overhead transmission lines in NR, WR and SR.
8. Formulation of agenda and preparation of minutes for the ISTS schemes pertaining to Northern, Western & Southern regions for meetings of NCT.
9. Works related to Standing Committee for ensuring coordinated planning and development of Inter-State and intra-state transmission network in NR, WR and SR.
10. Appraisal of DPR of intra-state transmission schemes for funding through Green Energy Corridor Scheme (GEC-1&11) of MNRE and recommending the same to MNRE
11. Recommendation to MNRE for release of fund for the intra-state transmission schemes under GEC Scheme (i) when the scheme is awarded by STUs and (ii) after completion of the scheme, in their region.
12. Appraisal of intra-state Proposals for grant of Central Government Funds/Funding from Multilateral Agencies, in their region.
13. Coordination of Inputs for preparation of RfP and RfQ documents for the transmission schemes being implemented through TBCB route, facilitating the BPCs in resolving various issues during bidding process, bid opening, Bid Evaluation etc.
14. Finalizing location of sub-stations to be implemented through TBCB route
15. Works related to PM Gati Shakti - National Master Plan.
16. Providing inputs to legal Division for framing reply to various petitions.
17. Providing Advice to Ministry of Power (MoP)/State Governments/ Regulatory Commissions on transmission aspects.
18. Planning and coordination for new cross border links with Bangladesh and other countries.
19. Parliament Questions, VIP references, RTI matter, matter related to Standing Committee and other committees, etc.
20. Any other work/task assigned from time to time.
21. Preparation of Master Plan based on the load flow studies for integration of Pump Storage Plants in the Grid.
22. Preparation of Transmission Plan for proving connectivity to Green Hydrogen Plants
23. Works related to Integration of PM Gati Shakti Portal with NSWS
