Activity of Power System Engineering & Technology Development Division
  1. Consultancy services for design and engineering aspects of EHV (66 kV and above Voltage class) transmission lines.
  2. Consultancy services for design and engineering aspects of EHV (66 kV and above Voltage class) Sub-stations.
  3. Facilitate Research & Development activities and capabilities in technology and engineering in the field of transmission of power and transfer of state of art technology and periodical monitoring of implementation of R&D Programme.
  4. Formulation of technical standards relating to transmission systems as per Electricity Act.
  5. Technical studies relating to power transmission system and investigations into any mishap or accident on the project sites.
  6. Carry out investigation of causes of failure of transmission towers and switchyard & substation equipment and suggest remedial measures to avert such failures in future.
  7. Ensure quality of equipment and facilities through site inspections and factory visits and testing of material and equipment before installation.
  8. Advise Central Govt./ MoP/ State Govt./ commission on technical matters relating to transmission system.
  9. Participation and contribution to EHV standing committee, Standing Committee on Power system, Empowered committee, PSDF appraisal committee, and Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB committee) & committee of CBIP & BIS etc. on technical matter relating to transmission system.
  10. Parliament Questions, VIP references, RTI matter, matter related to Standing committes and other committees, ISO related work etc.
