Activity of Emerging Technology & Innovation Division
- Promote research and periodical review of the research proposals/projects being implemented through CPRI viz. NPP, RSoP & IHRD under the aegis of MoP and Uchhatar Avishkar Yojana (UAY) of Ministry of Human Resource Development and Impacting Research Innovation & Technology (IMPRINT) of Ministry of Education.
- Matters related to Standing Committee on Research & Development (SCRD).
- Updation of thrust areas for R&D in the power sector and identification of high interaction with premier institutes, research organizations, and power sector to carry out R&D on the latest technological developments in the power sector.
- Examination of R&D proposals received from individuals/organizations.
- Coordination with other wings of CEA on the matter of Research & Development in the power sector.
- Encourage stakeholders in the power sector to adopt the latest technology in generation, transmission, and distribution.
Research & Development in Power Sector:

Standardization Cell Activities:
- Standardization activities related to formulation/ updation / revision of Standards in the field of Power Sector.
- Formulation of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) in respect of equipment pertaining to power sector.

Make in India and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan initiatives:
- Formulation of Make in India Order of Ministry of Power.
- Recommendation to MoP in respect of Registration of applications received from the companies sharing land border with India in compliance with Department of Expenditure (DoE) Orders.
- Addressing the grievances received from various companies against the tenders floated by Central and State sector power Utilities.
- Cases received from power sector utilities seeking exemption from Minimum Local Content (MLC) criteria in line with DPIIT Orders and subsequent amendments.
- Cases seeking exemption for floating Global Tender Enquiry.
- Formulation of schemes for Phased Manufacturing Programme (PMP) for the creation of Manufacturing Hub/Zone for Power and RE Sector.
- PLI Scheme: Formulation of draft Concept note, scheme, ErC Memo, guidelines on Production Linked Scheme (PLI) of MoP for identified transmission & Distribution (T&D) items.

Activities related to MoU between CEA and IIT Delhi.

Activities related to scrutiny of tenders, valued Rs 500 crores and above floated by PSUs/Subordinate Offices under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power compliance with Make in India Orders from time to time.
