Activity of Chief Electrical Inspectorate Division

1. Inspection of new electrical installations belonging to Central Government & UTs under Regulations 43 & 32 of Central Electricity Authority (Measures Relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations, 2010 for according approval for energisation of electrical installation.
2. Statutory periodic inspection of electrical installations belonging to Central Government & UTs for compliance under Regulation 30 of Central Electricity Authority (Measures Relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations, 2010.
3. Inquiry of fatal and non-fatal electrical accidents and remedial measures to be taken to avoid recurrence of such accidents in future.
4. Updation or amendment in the safety regulations namely 'Central Electricity Authority (Measures Relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations, 201O' in consultation with State Governments and other stakeholders.
5. Conducting awareness workshops for electrical safety.
6. Collecting Statistics and information relating to electrical accidents.
7. Coordination and compilation of various reports prepared, budgetary and other issues of RIOs.

RIO [N,S,E,W,NE] (following would be main function for respective region)

1. Inspection of new electrical installations belonging to Central Government & UTs under Regulations 43 & 32 of Central Electricity Authority (Measures Relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations, 2010 for according approval for energisation of electrical installation of voltage exceeding 650 V & generating plants of capacity exceeding 10 kW.
2. Statutory periodic inspection of electrical installations belonging to Central Government & UTs for compliance under Regulation 30 of Central Electricity Authority (Measures Relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations, 2010.
3. Reporting and Inquiry, if required, of fatal and non-fatal electrical accidents and remedial measures to be taken to avoid recurrence of such accidents in future.
