Energy Storage & System Division (ESSD)

1. Formulation of comprehensive National Energy Storage Policy and necessary guidelines to guide the development and deployment of Energy storage systems in India.
2. To frame relevant Technical Regulations/standards pertaining to Energy Storage Systems and/or in co-ordination with BIS and other bodies.
3. Implementation of Viability Gap funding schemes for ESS as per applicable policies and directions of Central Govt.
4. To collect data for planning & generation of Information and dissemination of suitable reports on ESS.
5. Examination of proposals related to ESS and promotion of R&D in various Energy Storage technologies.
6. To explore the opportunities of possible foreign collaboration of Indian entities in the field of Energy Storage.
7. Examination of proposals related to cost/ funding of ESS.
8. To create and maintain Database related to the status of ESS projects in India and abroad in respect of technology, cost, tariff etc.
9. Matters related to resource adequacy plan, storage trajectory etc.
