Activity of Power Data Management & Load Forecasting Division
  1.  Collection, validation, compilation and processing of Annual Electricity Statistics concerning generation, transmission, distribution, trading and utilization of electricity.
  2. Publication of All India annual electricity statistics- General Review.
  3. Publication of Growth of Electricity Sector since 194?-onwards.
  4. annually Monitoring Per Capital Consumption of Electricity
  5. Calculation of T&D Losses of the country
  6. Preparation of Monthly Report All India Installed Generating Capacity
  7. Review State-wise Installed Generating Capacity base on PPA
  8. State-wise Installed Capacity based on Central Pool Allocation
  9. All India Captive Power Plant Installed Generating Capacity
  10. Annual Review of Captive Power Plant Generation Industry-wise
  11. Coordinate the prating/derating of thermal, hydro generating units.
  12. Coordinate retirement of thermal, hydro generating units.
  13. To undertake periodical Electric Power Survey (EPS) of the country in coordination with various State/Central utilities, concerned organizations and stakeholders.
  14. To oversee the activities of Regional Power Survey Offices for collection, compilation and analysis of inputs required for carrying out EPS
  15. To Develop the methodology for Forecast Modeling
  16. Forecasting of Electricity demand and bring out Power Survey Report(S)
  17. Periodical review of forecast vis-a-vis actual demand of States/UTs
  18. Forecasting of Electricity demand for Mega cities
  19. Carry out sensitivity studies on demand forecasting considering electricity consumption patterns, technological changes, effect of energy conservation and other aspects.
  20. Matters related to Crisis and Disaster management plan for power sector
    Activities of Regional Power Survey Office
  1. Collection and compilation of Annual Captive Power Plant statistics (Format 21) for industries having demand ≥ 0.5 MW.
  2. Collection and compilation of Monthly Category-Wise Electricity Consumption data from DISCOMs (Format 15).
  3. Collection of Electric Power Survey (EPS) data and preliminary demand forecasting for States and UTs.
  4. To make preliminary forecast of Mega Cities of during Electric Power Survey exercise.
  5. To collect district wise data from DISCOMs in NCR for NCR demand forecast in EPS.
  6. Collection of 15-minute block-wise data from SLDCs and monthly category wise consumption data from 2010-11 onwards from all the DISCOMs for development of iForeTel tool. (https://iforetel.cea.gov.in/)
  7. Implementation of CPP (Captive Power Portal) for collection of monthly energy consumption data from Captive power plant & entities having demand ≥ 0.5 MW. (https://intranet.cea.gov.in/captiveNew/)
  8. Coordinating with various entities in the region for preparation of EPS, development of load forecasting tool and emerging loads i.e. Data centres, Green Hydrogen etc.
RPSO (North)

This office is responsible for collecting, validating and compiling data from DISCOMs, CPPs, SLDCs and other power sector stakeholders of Northern Region, namely Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, UT of Chandigarh, UT of Ladakh and UT of Jammu & Kashmir.

RPSO (East)

This office is responsible for collecting, validating and compiling data from DISCOMs, CPPs, SLDCs, Industry and other power sector stakeholders of Eastern Region & North-Eastern Region, namely West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Sikkim, Andaman& Nicobar, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

RPSO (West)

This office is responsible for collecting, validating and compiling data from DISCOMs,CPPs, SLDCs and other power sector stakeholders of Western Region, namely Gujarat,Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Lakshadweep and UT of DD & DNH.

RPSO (South)

This office is responsible for collecting, validating and compiling data from DISCOMs,CPPs, SLDCs and other power sector stakeholders of Southern Region namely Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, UT of Puducherry and Lakshadweep.
