SUB.:- Meeting of Standing Committee of Experts to investigate the failure of equipment at 220 kV and above substations.

 

Sir,

 

            As you may be aware that a Standing Committee under Section 73, Clause (1) of the Electricity Act, 2003, comprising experts in the field of design and operation of EHV Substations from CEA, various power utilities and research/academic institutes was constituted to investigate the failure of 220 kV and above voltage class substation equipment and recommend remedial measures to avert failures in future.

 

 A meeting of subject cited Standing Committee of Experts, under the Chairmanship of Chief Engineer(PSETD), CEA, is proposed to be held on 1st March, 2017, at 2:30 PM in Conference Room, 6th Floor (North), CEA, Sewa Bhawan, R.K. Puram, New Delhi. Kindly make it convenient or depute a suitable representative to attend the meeting. A confirmation in this regard would be highly appreciated.

 

A Compendium of the failures reported by various utilities to CEA between September, 2015 and December, 2016, are available at http://cea.nic.in/reports/committee/failure_equipment/ failure_03022017.pdf. It is requested that discrepancy, if any, found in the compendium may kindly be brought to our notice and any other information, test reports etc. which may be helpful for investigation of causes of failure may kindly be furnished to us before the meeting.
